This paper focusses on the thermomechanical behaviour of an inorganic potting compound for electrical machines. The stresses in the cement-based potting and the hotspot temperature of the motor windings in the slots are evaluated in 3D-FEM analysis. The mechanical material properties in dependence of the filler content are used to assess the material composition. A higher thermal conductivity can deteriorate reliability due to higher stiffness.
