Inhalt:
The research project “SiCWell”, funded by the German BMBF, investigates the impact of fast-switching SiC power semiconductors on vehicle battery lifetime. The current harmonics generated by the main inverter are studied in detail to investigate the spectral components of the generated current ripple in the battery. Simulation results are compared to laboratory measurements to define the current ripple relevant for cell cycling. Furthermore, the current harmonics distribution on the dc bus is analyzed, which has an important impact on the battery current ripple. The research results show an impact of the current harmonics on vehicle battery lifetime, and a simulation model is developed that enables a sensitivity analysis of powertrain parameters like switching frequency, dc link capacitance or modulation scheme.
