The paper introduces patent analysis as a complementary tool in market intelligence to anticipate new technologic al trends and future market competitions. The research covers the whole supply chain for SiC industry and suggests that IP competition is going to focus on SiC power devices, especially trench MOSFET. Next, the paper identifies key IP players and key patents in view of the upcoming market competition for SiC power devices.
