In the context of another proposed publication “Key points regarding electrical safety in small cylindrical Li-ion cells assemblies during overcharge or partial short-circuit”, (PCIM 2023), for safety reason, the current and voltage of an electric arc inside a Li-ion cell need to be measured remotely with an oscilloscope. An unknown length of coaxial cable between the experimental setup and the control room and high-capacitance measurement equipment connected in parallel modify the classical measurement scheme. Times of a few hundred microseconds duration with fast oscillations must be observed, which is impossible with classical high impedance equipment in this situation. Specific handmade low impedance current and voltage probes were realized.
