Inhalt:
This paper presents a novel approach to radially integrate the power electronic device with its active cooling channel in a notch located in the stator-volume of an electrical machine. With the integrated power electronic device, the system power density in electrical machines can be increased. The approach identifies an area in the stator where the magnetic flux density is lower than in other areas. By removing the stator iron in this area, space to integrate the power electronics with its cooling channel is created. The dimensions of the notch are designed with simulations to ensure that the magnetic flux density in the adjoining area is not raised above a certain limit. Two different designs to form the notch with its cooling channel in single stator teeth are designed and set up. With measurements feasibility of this concept is proofed.
