This paper proposes an optimized algorithm to share the energy processed by the single-phase δ-UPS (D-UPS) converters operating in backup mode (B-M). When the D-UPS operates in standby mode, the parallel converter operates oversized because its handled apparent power is lower than the load demanded nominal power. Unlike in B-M, the parallel converter must assume the overall power, while the series converter must be inhibited. In this paper, using an optimized algorithm/strategy, the series converter remains operating in the B-M and shares the energy consumed by the load with the parallel converter, allowing an adequate optimization of the parallel converter sizing. The proposed operation mode applied to the D-UPS increases the overall system efficiency. Simulation results show the effec-tiveness of the proposed optimized apparent power processing algorithm.
