Impedance-based stability investigations play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation of power systems and vali-dating the performance of grid-connected devices. This paper introduces a novel methodology for impedance replication in Power Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL) setups, which enables accurate and efficient analysis of power system stability. The proposed methodology utilizes impedance measurements obtained from a real device or grid and employs passive equivalent circuit modelling to replicate the impedance characteristics in a real-time simulator. By executing the replicated impedance model on the real-time simulator with PHIL, the amplifiers output is measured and compared with the meas-ured reference impedance to optimize the replication error. The findings of this study emphasize the significance of impedance replication in PHIL for advanced, flexible impedance-based stability investigations. The proposed methodology offers a practical and efficient approach for replicating complex impedance characteristics in real-time simulations, enabling researchers and engineers to thoroughly analyze the stability and performance of power systems and associated devices.
