Inhalt:
This paper presents a highly integrated high power density design of a motor drive, utilizing integrated GaN power stages as well as novel current sensing ICs. In combination with the newest microcontroller generation, a power density of 3.3 kW/in3 at 100 kHz switching frequency is reached. Insights in the design as well as electrical and thermal measurement results are presented. The design enables further innovation due to higher integration in applications such as E-bikes, scooters, industrial automation, robotics, and power tools. This paper showcases its capabilities for a humanoid robotics application with an implemented position control.
