This study presents a unified charging approach for electric vehicles that combines wired and wireless charging into one system. In traditional setups, electric vehicles rely on separate systems for wired charging and for wireless charging, which leads to higher costs, increased weight, and a more complicated design. By using an advanced magnetic coupler design, the proposed solution allows essential components—such as the transformer and the switches on the secondary circuit—to be shared between the two charging methods. This integration not only reduces both cost and weight but also eliminates the need for mechanical switching devices, thereby simplifying the overall system architecture. The effectiveness of this integrated charging method has been demonstrated through experimental validation.
