This work proposes the use of the novel hybrid-flyback topology aiming at building an ultra-slim converter with high efficiency and good thermal characteristics. It operates with ZCS and ZVS and it is well suited to work together with PCB-based transformers, which are characterized by low leakage inductance. A 6.5mm height prototype is designed, including the transformer, that requires special techniques to reduce the effects that arise from the high coupling between the windings. The obtained results validate its performance operating at 400 Vdc input and 48 Vdc / 8.33 A output, with an efficiency of 97.13% at full power and a temperature below 75 °C after 30 min of operation at full-load in open frame.
