This article introduces application of SiC hybrid discrete in photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems (ESS). There are mainly two application schemes: hybrid packaging of SiC MOSFET and Si FRED; Hybrid packaging of Si IGBT and SiC SBD. Hybrid discrete are more conducive to expanding power and adapting to different power requirements. In PV MPPT applications, hybrid discrete can solve the problem of reverse connection of photovoltaic panels and simultaneously enhance the surge capability to ground. In ESS applications, hybrid discrete can reduce system losses by 25% and increase efficiency by 0.62%. The advantages of hybrid discrete are verified through actual measurement results.
