This paper presents an adaptive driver optimization strategy for energy storage systems (ESS) to address the challenges of overload reliability and operational efficiency. By dynamically adjusting gate resistors (Rgon/Rgoff) based on real-time load conditions, this strategy achieves minimized switching losses during normal operations, while suppressing voltage stress and improving reliability under overload conditions (1.5 to 3X of the rated current). The proposed approach has been validated on a 215 kW SiC based ESS, demonstrating its potential for enhancing system performance and scalability in grid-forming renewable energy applications.
