Input units of a high voltage converter with an input voltage of 3000 V AC for passenger carriage are considered. The ripples of current consumption with synchronous and asynchronous control algorithm of power keys of the considered input units are investigated. It is proposed to divide the input current into slow-variable and fast-variable components. Equations for calculating the components of the converter current consumption and its ripple amplitude from the number of input blocks with synchronous and asynchronous algorithm are presented. It is shown that the use of the asynchronous algorithm allows to significantly reduce the input current ripples of the high-voltage converter. A method for extending the region of the inseparable current consumption mode is proposed. The article is of interest to specialists of electrical engineers who develop high-voltage converters with improved quality of current consumption for railway, aviation and industrial applications.
