Electrical vehicle inverter is a price driven market. Cost, reliability and quality are main requirements for this application. Power modules with SiC chips are very common in 800V EV inverter application because of compact design and lower losses but t he price is a barrier. IGBT power modules are ver y common for 400V battery application but not 10 0% suitable for 800V EV inverter application. The combination of a SiC chip (1200V) with an IGBT c hip (1200V) can solve the price barrier and provid e similar performance as an SiC power module. In our paper we will introduce a new approach of an Hybridswitch called FusionPlus.
