Totem-pole bridgeless PFC (TP PFC) shows great potential in the application of high efficiency and high power-density switching-mode power supplies (SMPS). The wide-bandgap (WBG) devices with excellent reverse recovery performance enables CCM operation of the totem-pole PFC. This paper presents a study on SiC MOSFET based CCM TP PFC with ultra-slim design for TV applications. The power loss calculation of SiC MOSFET is discussed in detail as well as the system design considerations for ultraslim requirements with CCM TP PFC. Finally, an 800W CCM totem-pole PFC prototype with 10mm total height is developed and tested in the lab.
