This article presents the DC installation in the Weidmueller Academy building. It consists of two switch cabinets, the DC supply cabinet and the DC distribution cabinet. A drilling machine, a conventional milling machine, and a PV system are also connected to the installation. The system is intended for practical testing of DC components, increasing the energy efficiency of the Weidmüller Academy, and serving as an industry-oriented platform for training of employees and customers. This article provides a detailed description of how the system works, including aspects such as the safety concept, PV coupling, and the integration of a milling machine and a drilling machine. Finally, the challenges and hurdles encountered during construction are discussed.
