Inhalt:
Power system time domain simulations of modern transmission networks are growing in importance, but also complexity. Model reduction methods propose a solution to this, by producing simplified network equivalents that still produce accurate results in the area of interest. In this work, an overview of available techniques is conducted, and particular attention is given to the implementation of coherency-based reduction in DIgSILENT PowerFactory. Based on this tool, some of the criteria for accurate model reduction are evaluated. Furthermore, some of the shortcomings of this method, particularly related to EMT simulations, are discussed.
