Inhalt:
In this paper, investigations and measurements of two different PMSM stator topologies for high-speed applications are presented. The considered 3-phase stators with a two-pole rotor magnet have been modelled and optimized with multi-domain finite element analysis (FEA) simulations. The drive features active magnetic bearings, a speed range up to 200 krpm and a rated continuous output power of 150 W. Idle operation and a load point featuring high toque have been analyzed with FEA simulations for optimization of the prototypes. These operating points are verified by measurement. For each drive system, the rotor shaft dimensions and the implemented magnetic bearings as well as the control and drive electronics remain the same (except for the magnetization strength of the rotor permanent magnet). Thus, it is possible to compare the performance of the optimized stator topologies under the same conditions.
