Inhalt:
This paper presents an overview of new requirements on HVDC cable systems to withstand Dynamic Voltage Stresses by characterizing its different categories in the form of parameterized test waveforms. Design concepts are discussed and experimental setups are developed by maintaining the principle of superimposing impulse on rated DC voltage for testing such dynamic voltage stresses on cables. Analysis and challenges of generating prospective test waveforms are presented based on the first prototype results. Finally, an outlook is presented for incorporating dynamic voltage tests, in addition to classical cable design verification and long duration tests of HVDC cable systems.
