For the integration of highly utilised electric machines into aircraft propulsion, these must be evaluated with a focus on efficiency, power density and reliability concerning lifetime and failure resilience. In general, the life limiting components are the bearings and the stator winding insulation. The stator winding insulation has a direct influence on the performance of the electric machine. Therefore, it must be dimensioned with a focus on the aviation-related objectives. To achieve this, this paper presents a method based on robust multi-objective optimisation, including probabilistic methods. Robust optimisation refers to avoiding the deterioration of the optimisation objectives in the case of small deviations in the input parameters and increasing the admissibility of the optimisation objectives.
