Private 5G networks offer industry new possibilities by enabling fast and reliable wireless communication. While stationary machines in an industrial hall can easily be connected to a network, it is important to demonstrate the advantages of 5G technology for mobile equipment, particularly moving around large areas. This study presents the results of a mobile sensor setup with a 5G communication module that was developed to characterise the communication quality and network coverage of a 5G outdoor campus network. This method also demonstrates how 5G network quality can be affected by the surroundings and how this can be visualised in the form of a heat map.
