Inhalt:
Pressure sensors for consumer electronics can be based on different sensing concepts. This contribution introduces the three major approaches. Piezoresistive and capacitive transducers are well established in commercially available products. Their assessment is based on recent implementations by Bosch Sensortec and a deep understanding of their limitations and potentials. Additionally, optical pressure sensors are introduced as an innovative new concept for consumer electronics, though they have not yet been implemented in a product. For the first time, their differences are systematically analysed and compared based on the most relevant parameters for consumer electronics.
