For global energy savings and CO2-emission reduction requirements, the demand for inverter systems used in air-conditioners, motor drives is rapidly increasing. Fuji Electric has developed a Small Intelligent Power Module (Small IPM) are used in such inverter systems to easily achieve energy saving and miniaturization. As the number of systems increases, the Small IPM need to improve the trade-off relationship between power loss and EMC performance. This paper describes the newly developed latest generation (3rd) Small IPM that provides low switching loss, low EMI noise and high EMS immunity by applying the 7th generation FWD technology and advanced High Voltage Integrated Circuit (HVIC) technology.
