Battery management system (BMS) must estimate battery pack (BP) parameters by analysing noisy datum of a switched-mode power supply (SMPS) used as a charge device. The precise estimation provides correct BP control signal adjustment. In this case, the control signal is SMPS output voltage. The correct adjustment increases the BP lifetime. In this paper, we propose a method, based on extended Kalman filter (EKF), that is controlling lithium iron phosphate BP charge and discharge. This paper includes the required mathematical background, BP modeling, BP parameters identification algorithm and the final solution with appropriate results.
